Another project begins, and this time, I must create a music video to accompany a song of my choice. This music video must have a plot that is shown with the specific song as the background. It was made very clear that 70 seconds of tracking shots of the beach accompanied with electronic music will not be scored highly. Even though this project has just started I'm already out of ideas. I am still unsure about what song genre or what plot I will follow along to a song. Depending on the mood of the songs, that could also heavily influence visuals. For example electronic song with heavy bass and a dark, gloomy tones will probably complement a horror plot. A faster paced song with more acoustics will suit a friendly, wholesome story. I can already think of some editing techniques that will accompany a song. In general, the jump cuts will most likely be synchronized with the sound of the bass or snare. If the song has some sort of distortion with a synthesizer or electric guitar, I can picture of repetitive flashing on the screen to match. I'll also have to think about how easy this will be to film and edit. Many music videos today often have large panoramic shots of scenery or interesting angles of subjects that can't be achieved easily. I might have to use some equipment or some new position and timing to try to get the right shot to compliment a certain sound. We also have to consider other people being included in the entire video some people that might appear in public will not consent to being seen on camera. This could potentially make finding a set difficult. I could also use different colors in the video to match different moods from each of the songs. I think there's a lot of potential ideas that could lead to some good final products. Depending on how I approach it, this could turn out to be fun and relaxing. I'll have to manage all of the time to make enough time for all of the steps of the project, especially the editing. Getting an early start will be the most ideal scenario. However it might take some time for me to realize what will be the most practical and effective use of time, resources, and money.
