It Takes Two .... Or More Ideas

 In Photoshop, I was practicing creating layer masks and using the transparency of Portable Network Graphics (PNGs). I realized that I can make any opening within the any parts of the video and replace it with another video or even some images. This way, I can completely change the setting without actually having to film the same props at a different background. This could help me with the whole concept of using garbage as the subject in the video. I can take a still video of the props and simply mask and feather the borders with the videos from the first day of filming. I experimented with the feathering of my masks. A high value meant it blended super smoothly, but I had to be cautious as to blend all of the objects and colors together. A general value that worked was around 80%.  However, I do not have a clear picture on exactly the props I can use. I am thinking about using the biodegradable, slightly textured napkins, utensils, and cups. These do not shine and hence, will not create a glare. This is essential when I add coloring effects so the props do not appear "blinding." To create my cutaway, I will need to screen record my mouse clicking a play button. I will be using OBS Studio and custom settings to record a clip. To find my scene to record, I will use a custom level editor in Geometry Dash. This is the simplest way since I can change all the text on the screen. It is a blue background with a large yellow icon. The blue is cool toned, which matches with all of the green vegetation in the rest of video, so it doesn't destroy the entire color scheme. The yellow has a nice contrast that does not overpower the clip, but is large enough to emphasize the music and video to a faster pace. I also needed to find an excerpt that matches the storyboard. Since I cannot change the song's speed, I can edit the lengths of the scenes to synchronize with the music.

 Although we are eager to begin working, our group has been very slow to progress. Each of us has been very busy with school and tests, leaving less time that we can all congregate to consistently film. We also have additional extracurriculars that limit the opportunities we have from meeting up together. Now this would be nearly impossible if we had to rely on our parents to drive us from place to place. It would also inconvenience everyone if we try and make a small adjustment to our schedules. Luckily, Maximus is eligible to drive and was planned drive us to our filming locations. These would include his and Jibril's houses. After this planning earlier in the year, we had expected our meeting dates to be flexible with this in mind. Unfortunately, the unexpected has constantly struck. Planning: Storyboard

Scenes 1-6 In the beginning of the film, the first shot will establish the dark setting of the scene. It will be an establishing shot that tilts on a street to show the moonlight night and a small suburban neighborhood. The next three scenes introduce the interior of the house and the victims of the killer's first crimes. Scenes 7-12 The main protagonist will come home, sensing that something is not right, and wander a quiet home. He will soon make the discovery that his family was murdered and will fill with vengeance. Scenes 13-18 The father of the family will use the police to ask for help finding the, but with no luck. After some time passes, we can still see the emotional trauma the loss has caused. We feel that this helps develop the character. Scenes 19-24 The father, now motivated to avenge his family, will recruit his friends for help and take matters in their own hands. They will find evidence that will begin a chase for the killer. Critical Reflection

  Our short film represents themes of power and mental health, both of which are common today. As our protagonist suffers from his wife’s death, we can see the emotional toll and how it consumes this. This can be interpreted as a representation of another being controlling and even surveying him to find out his next move. In today’s day and age parties have tried to get more power and control over media, especially by means of technology. In terms of surveying, the film shows how the killer somehow knows where our protagonist is and what he is doing, as if he had been watching his every move. In another sense, this could be an illustration of how governments and other organizations can watch their people and remain in control of their thoughts, emotions, and actions. Also, another common issue represented is the sensitive mental health topic.
