Group Blog

 For my projects this year, I will be working with Maximus Macelaru and Jibril Alkishawi. We are all 11th graders at Fort Lauderdale High. They are both friends of mine and we are all very excited to begin working. Max is 16, while Jibril and I are 15. This comes in handy, since Max can drive and we can move to film without needing all of our parents to drive us. I love the idea of this newfound independence. For our entire lives thus far, I've felt chained to the restrictions of where I live and my parents' availability. This could be the first experience for me outside the house without my parents. It also helps that we all live very close to each other in the same city of Hollywood. It is only a 10 minute drive between us. This means it will be easier for us all to be present. We also have a good idea of our local community, which could give us ideas for our media production. We all have contacts and phones numbers together, as well as several group chats. Each of us are very proactive and care about our work. I think this group has great potential because we all constantly communicate inside and outside of the school setting. We hardly have to wait to get a response from each other. These communication skills will be very efficient when it comes to reaching deadlines. Max and Jibril already have experience working together, so I will be an addition to their already successful project last year. I am looking forward to working with my friends. I am excited on what we can create together.

Production and Transportation

 Although we are eager to begin working, our group has been very slow to progress. Each of us has been very busy with school and tests, leaving less time that we can all congregate to consistently film. We also have additional extracurriculars that limit the opportunities we have from meeting up together. Now this would be nearly impossible if we had to rely on our parents to drive us from place to place. It would also inconvenience everyone if we try and make a small adjustment to our schedules. Luckily, Maximus is eligible to drive and was planned drive us to our filming locations. These would include his and Jibril's houses. After this planning earlier in the year, we had expected our meeting dates to be flexible with this in mind. Unfortunately, the unexpected has constantly struck. Planning: Storyboard

Scenes 1-6 In the beginning of the film, the first shot will establish the dark setting of the scene. It will be an establishing shot that tilts on a street to show the moonlight night and a small suburban neighborhood. The next three scenes introduce the interior of the house and the victims of the killer's first crimes. Scenes 7-12 The main protagonist will come home, sensing that something is not right, and wander a quiet home. He will soon make the discovery that his family was murdered and will fill with vengeance. Scenes 13-18 The father of the family will use the police to ask for help finding the, but with no luck. After some time passes, we can still see the emotional trauma the loss has caused. We feel that this helps develop the character. Scenes 19-24 The father, now motivated to avenge his family, will recruit his friends for help and take matters in their own hands. They will find evidence that will begin a chase for the killer. Recurring Issues

Today we faced challenges during our shoot. One of the biggest challenges was getting the right shot under the right conditions.   There were times when we had to wait for the perfect lighting or weather conditions, which could take hours. Even when we had the right conditions, it could take a long time to get the perfect shot. One example of this was when we were filming a particular scene outside in the park. We had to wait for the sun to set just enough to create the desired effect, and then we had to make sure the camera was in the right position to capture the shot. It took about an hour to get just one shot under those conditions, but we knew it was worth the effort to create the desired effect. We also had to contend with other factors like noise and distractions from passersby, which could ruin a shot if not handled properly.
