Short-Film Script:
Non-Diegetic Sound: Serious-ominous song plays throughout the scenes
Lighting: Darkness of the night/moonlight
News Station (Voiceover) : A manhunt is underway for a dangerous fugitive wanted in connection with a string of violent crimes. The suspect is believed to be armed and extremely dangerous. Police are asking members of the public to call 911 immediately if they spot the suspect. He is described as around 6 feet tall and wearing all black clothing. No facial features have been identified. Authorities advise people not to approach the suspect if they see him, and to remain vigilant in their immediate area. The suspect is believed to be traveling on foot and may still be in the local area. We urge anyone with information on the suspect's whereabouts to contact them as soon as possible.
The news station screen pans over from the tv to a woman and a child who have just finished watching the station. Seconds later they are pulled behind the couch and are killed by the killer.
The killer walks out of the house into the darkness of the night.
Diegetic sound: Sound used to amplify the noise created by the killers boots.
The scene is then transitioned into the protagonist finding their dead family when arriving home.
Protagonist (Voiceover): I will never, ever, forget that vision. It’s been stuck in my head for many days and nights.
The viewer is then shown many perspectives with the protagonist at their grave and him alone in his bathroom, all “broken” apart with his mentality.
Fast Forward: *6 months later. The protagonist is shown studying the case of the killer at his desk piecing things together.
Narrator (Voiceover): John was a detective, but his occupation wasn't what drove him. His mission was much more personal. He had spent his entire career chasing down criminals, but this time it was different. This time, he was seeking revenge.
The protagonist receives a message on his phone. It is by an unknown caller. He makes a strange face then decides to answer the call
Protagonist: Hello?
Unknown Caller: *No answer but silent breathing is heard
Protagonist: Who is this?
Unknown Caller: I don't regret what I did. I'm coming for you next.*Hangs up
The protagonist has a worried look on his face but then realizes he can track the number that just called.
Protagonist: Could this really be him? Have I finally found him after all this time?
The protagonist pulls up the live location of the number that just called. He realizes that its his own house.
Protagonist: This must be a mistake. The number tracks to my location?
The doorbell rings and the protagonist is seen turning around looking towards the door with a mysterious look on his face. In the background of the shot is a cloaked man standing ominously and the screen is cut to black. THE END
